Provision of services for the adaptation of 90 clinical protocols / guidelines / routes based on the "ADAPTER" methodology

The objective of the contract is the adaptation of 90 clinical protocols / clinical guidelines / clinical pathways according to Cyprus needs through the “ADAPTE” methodology ensuring the involvement of all necessary stakeholders including representatives of health professionals, patients and policy makers.

The “ADAPTE” tool is one of the most widespread tools used to adapt clinical protocols / guidelines / pathways.

Clinical protocols / guidelines / pathways are sets of suggestions and prompts that support health professionals to optimally carry out clinical actions and interventions related to the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and management of specific diseases based on evidence-based medicine. Clinical protocols / clinical guidelines / clinical pathways aim to improve the level of health services provided and patient safety, both through the application of correct, modern medical practice, and through the standardization of clinical actions and interventions followed.

The clinical protocols / guidelines / pathways that will be adapted will be usable by the primary, secondary and tertiary care health professionals of Cyprus. They will also be able to be used by the responsible agencies involved to draw up policies and procedures related to the provision of health services in Cyprus.

The specific objectives of the Contract are the following:

- Identification and active participation of key stakeholders in the adaptation of clinical protocols / guidelines / pathways.

- Identification of priority areas (diseases or conditions or health conditions) for Cyprus for which clinical protocols / guidelines / pathways need to be adapted.

- Adaptation of a total of 90 clinical protocols / guidelines / pathways for the identified priority areas, of which:

• 30 clinical protocols

• 30 clinical guidelines

• 30 clinical routes

- Peer Review of 30 clinical protocols, 30 clinical guidelines and 30 clinical routes so that they can be finalized and published. In total, the Contractor should finalize at least 50 clinical protocols / guidelines by December 2024 and another 40 by December 2025.

- Development of short training materials that will summarize and highlight the main recommendations for the 90 clinical protocols / guidelines / pathways with the aim of educating healthcare professionals on their implementation.

- Development of informative material to inform patients and health professionals about the clinical protocols / guidelines / routes that have been adapted to the data of Cyprus.
